Triptych Trio - Haydn, Trio in D Major, Hoboken XV:16

This Haydn flute/cello/piano trio was performed by Triptych at the JCC on the Palisades, in Tenafly, New Jersey (USA) on April 22, 2010. Triptych is Beth Robin (piano), Wendy Stern (flute) and Frances Rowell (cello). This concert was recorded using a Core Sound TetraMic and Edirol R44. The flute and the cello were in front on the stage, roughly eight feet apart. The pianist was centered behind them, around 10 feet back. TetraMic was placed on the center line between the flute and cello, roughly 8 feet from both of them, at roughly their head level. The R44 Level controls were set at 9 o'clock, and the Sensitivity controls were set to -44. I recorded a calibration tone using a Behringer CT-100 to each of the four channels in turn. In post-production I matched levels across the four channels to roughly .01 dB. The concert hall seats roughly 150 people and acoustically is quite dead. It has no appreciable reverberation, though it does have some rough slapback echoes which are not too obvious in this recording. The Blumlein stereo decode is quite nice.
