 BH_Poulenc

short sample from O Magnum Mysterium by Francis Poulenc, performed by the Philadelphia Singers (www.philadelphia singers.org) 12/18/05 in St Clement's Church in Phildelphia, Due to the narrowness of the front of the church where the Soundfield was located decoding to stereo hypercardiods sound better than fig 8's due to phase cancellations from lateral reflections. This sample is a part of the "Christmas with the Philadelphia Singers" concert. A one hour program from this concert is being broadcast in the US on many NPR stations (distribution by PRI)around Christmas 20o6. If you can't find it on your local stations schedule you can listen over the web at http://www.whyy.org/91FM/live.html where it will be broadcast on Christmas day at 10AM EST and repeated again at 9PM EST. Please note that the broadcast version is a mix of several mics and not a pure Soundfield recording-see details below. Details of the Broadcast version of the concert are as follows:recorded with Soundfield MKV mic in Blumlein for the choir. Further back a 24" spaced pair of Josephson C617/MK221 omni's in the center aisle at the front of the pews and a widely spaced pair of KM86's(fig 8 pattern) in the back right and left sections of the audience. For the choir and choir plus organ pieces the Soundfield + Josephsons were blended. For the audience participation numbers the choir moved to the front and side aisles and only the Josephsons + KM86's were used. The concert was mixed live by the Joyce Lieberman of WHYY via Mytek Stereo ADC to CDR and DAT. Enjoy. Bill
