Home builders might want to read about the design of the original soundfield mic. As far as I know, only the USA patent is available on-line.

  2. H. Smith, "The Sound Field Microphone," dB, pp. 34-37 (1978 July)
  3. Farrar, "Soundfield Microphone," Wireless World, vol. 85 pp. 48-50 (1979 Oct.) and pp. 99-103 (1979 Nov.) (Best published reference on the design of the Sound field microphone.)
